This photo showcases an encounter that Thierry Mauvernay experienced about a decade ago with an African woman who was crafting delicious homemade ketchup while sharing her journey.
Her cousin cultivated tomatoes, and once the modest harvest was done, she sorted, cleaned, and traditionally cooked them before placing them in recycled plastic bottles. The final step was carried out by her brother who set off on his bike to sell the ketchup bottles.
This small-scale venture is an excellent illustration of local developmental initiatives. The Fondation Philanthropique Next will continue to support and assist these entrepreneurial projects in 2024, valuing individuals while creating and participating in a circular economy.
